Life Guard Training

Professional lifeguard certification program focusing on water rescue skills, CPR, and emergency response.

Duration: 6 Weeks

Prerequisites: Strong swimming skills

Duration: 8 Weeks

Prerequisites: Teaching certification or equivalent experience

The Kenya Swimming Teachers and Coaches Association (KSTCA) is the premier professional body for swimming instructors and coaches in Kenya. Established in 2005, we have been at the forefront of developing swimming education and coaching standards nationwide.

Our association brings together professionals from across the country to share knowledge, develop skills, and promote water safety. We are committed to develops and supports professional coaches and provide quality swim coaches through quality swim education and developing competitive swimmers who can represent Kenya at international levels.

Eligibility

All persons interested in Swim Coaching, training and water safety shall be eligible for membership subject to the approval of the Board of Advisers. Applicants must be willing to abide by the Constitution and By-Laws and must maintain an interest in the activities of the KSTCA.

All prospective members must submit the online application form accompanied by membership dues. Said application to be approved or rejected by the Board of Advisers. If rejected, the membership chairperson shall provide an explanation, and a full refund will be made.

Training & Certification Programs

Lifeguard training

Lifeguard Training

Professional lifeguard certification program focusing on water rescue skills, CPR, and emergency response.

Duration: 6 Weeks

Prerequisites: Strong swimming skills

Other Requirements: CPR/First Aid knowledge recommended

Minimum Age: 18+

Coach certification

Swim Coach Certification

Advanced training for coaches focusing on technique analysis, training methodologies, and athlete development.

Duration: 8 Weeks

Prerequisites: Teaching certification or experience

Other Requirements: Background in competitive swimming preferred

Minimum Age: 21+

Teacher certification

Swim Teacher Certification

Comprehensive program covering water safety, teaching techniques, and class management for aspiring teachers.

Duration: 10 Weeks

Prerequisites: Strong swimming skills

Other Requirements: Pass a water safety test

Minimum Age: 18+

First Aid Certification

Essential first aid and CPR training specifically tailored for aquatic environments and emergencies

Open to all

Duration: 1-2 days

How to Apply

Follow these simple steps to register for any KSTCA program.

Choose a Program

From the Programs list select the program you want and click Apply Now.

Check Eligibility

Confirm you meet the eligibility criteria.

Complete Application Form

Fill and submit the online application form. Application by any other method won't be acknowledged

Pay Fees

Pay the program fee or deposit using M-Pesa, bank transfer or card. Save your payment proof (transaction ID/receipt).

Application Review & Confirmation

We review your application within 3–5 business days. You will get an email/SMS confirmation with next steps.

Attend Orientation / Pre-assessment

Attend the scheduled orientation and any required swimming or fitness tests before the course starts.

7

Complete Course & Assessment

Participate fully in the training, practical sessions and final assessments.

8

Receive Certification

After successful completion you will receive your certificate and details for continuing professional development.
